Art Club will meet on the 4th week of January instead of the 3rd due to Beta Club's makeup meeting. We will be making Chihuly Glass Sculptures!! This is one of my favorite sculpture/color artists. Cheekwood Museum of Art had a breathtaking show using artist Dale Chihuly's glasswork floating in water, chandeliers, and glasswork with lights inside. Check out his work here: Dale Chihuly's website We're moving into 3D work and color theory for January and I'm super excited to see these wonderful artists and their imagination at work! There's a few things I need for these art pieces:
Thank you!! Art club met this week to make Hot Chocolate mugs using predmade ceramic mugs and drawing with a permanent sharpie marker. I baked the mugs at 350 for an hour. There are many ways to do this project with different types of markers. This is a picture of the Puppet show field trip @ the Country Music Hall of Fame, below is the youtube, com explanation of the show. It was a short, but sweet time! Please watch the clip to find out more! 1st Grade- We made snow"people" in art this week for the awesome Holiday Concert coming up next week. Students discussed how snow is formed and all the wonderful things you can make with snow.
Kindergarten continued their study of symmetry by making Thanksgiving turkeys out of salt dough and coffee grounds. These were used for the decoration of the cafeteria for Thanksgiving lunch. 1st grade used shapes to create their favorite animals in their habitats. Students had to research their animal to find out information that helped them make their work more authentic. 2nd grade read Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle and reviewed images from the internet that showed the different types of seahorses in the ocean. Students used their knowledge of pattern to develop a camouflage for their seahorse. This project will be used for ART TO REMEMBER-fundraiser coming up in the spring. We've been having some technical difficulties with internet and enough storage to take pictures of some awesome artwork that's being made.
Art Club artists were able to choose a Pumpkin, Skull, or Mask to paint in a pattern of their choosing. We had some really creative pieces! WOWZA! Can't wait till November's art club.
Hope to see everyone attend art club tomorrow from 2:!5-3;30. We'll be painting and decorating pumpkins, skulls, and masks for the season. Kids choice! See you there!
I just want to wish everyone a safe and productive Fall Break! Read, Draw, Paint, Play outside as much as you can!!
Below I have included the end results of 3rd grade's hard work on their Hopi Indian Tribe inspired basket weaving. They had to complete a 2 color pattern. |
